UKKMMS is led by Farukkabad Gharana which was formed by legendary Haji Ustad Vilayat Ali Khan Sahab and further elevated by Ustad Karamatullah Khan, this gharana has given the world an unparalleled tradition of rhythm and grace. This is a family of court musicians, keepers of ancient wisdom, and architects of rhythmic beauty. From its ranks have risen legends such as Late Ustad Karamatullah Khan, Late Ustad Masit Khan, and Ustad Sabir Khan one of the most celebrated tabla maestros in the history of classical music. And this legacy is not limited to the tabla alone, the family has also mentored and shaped some of Bollywood’s most respected and beloved voices of today.

Founded in the early 1980s, UKKMMS was established to honor one of the oldest and most revered musical bloodlines in history—the Mir Akasa lineage, whose roots stretch back to the 11th century A.D. The society is proudly led by direct descendants of Mir Akasa , Ustad Sabir Khan , who has been honoured with multiple titles throughout his lifetime , the title Talmani bestowed by the Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan Samiti (1976), the title Aftab-e Tabla at the Rampur Music Conference (1990), An award from the Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai (1991), and of the Bharat Nirman Award (2011) conferred in Kolkata. A documentary film on his work has been produced by the Government of West Bengal.
